Orlando

A forgotten jewel

revived and refreshed

nostalgia australiana
In the 1950s, Orlando led the industry in sparkling and white wine technological innovation, importing controlled fermentation tanks from Germany to the Barossa Valley, to create what came to be the iconic Barossa Pearl. As the first affordable sparkling wine to take Australia by storm, this delicious, fizzy nectar swiftly became entrenched into the minds and hearts of Australians, making Orlando a household name. The technological revolution also birthed in the Barossa Riesling, which was immediately judged as best Riesling at the Sydney and Melbourne Wine Shows, and continues its legacy in the much lauded Steingarten Riesling today. Among other claims to fame, the Steingarten Riesling is also one of the reasons now Chief Winemaker at Orlando, Tim Pelquest-Hunt, was lured into winemaking to begin with.
